Walking, Kayaking, Wildlife, Campfires ...
This is the way to experience New Zealand
Our guided Walking Tours provide an unforgettable outdoor adventure. Travel with a small group (max 12) of like minded individuals into remote wilderness areas and see nature at her best - vibrant rain forests, awesome glaciers, snow-capped mountains, limestone canyons, rugged volcanoes, tranquil lakes and turbulent rivers. We aim to get off the beaten track so you don't have to join the queue to see the view.
Why Hiking New Zealand?
Because we offer the best adventure travel
Small Groups
Travelling in small groups (max 12) means we are flexible and can accommodate the group easily. Routes can be changed according to fitness levels and weather. If the weather is spectacular we can stay in one area longer and go swimming and do walks from there, if it is poor we can chose to stay in local cribs (holiday homes) rather than camp. Everyone benefits from a small group, you get to know everyone and form close friendships, everyone gets involved and helps out and the impact on the environment is minimal.
Getting off the beaten track
New Zealand is famous for its spectacular wilderness and the best way to experience this is to get out on foot. We have chosen the best places to hike so you see a variety of landscapes and natural features, giving you an unforgettable New Zealand adventure.
Sight seeing
Getting off the beaten track is important, however, tourist icons are an icon for a reason so we have picked the 'must not miss' icons and still go there but we make sure that we go at optimum times to reduce the number of other people we have to share them with.
Wildlife viewing
Hiking New Zealand has been a supporter of the Wildlife Research Foundation for over 10 years and donates $5 with each ticket sold. To date we have donated over $50,000 to help with conservation of Hector's dolphins, one of the rarest dolphins in the world and found only in NZ. Wildlife we may encounter on our tours include: Fur seals, Yellow-eyed penguins, Hector's dolphins and the Sperm whale.
